Raymond: A man that wants to say his say must be able to do his do. Duggie: And a man that can do is a man that can say his say. Reggie: If I can do and say, then I may ask. Duggie: A say-thing is an ask-thing. And an ask-thing is a thing that doesn't need say. Raymond: Yes, yes, yes. But an ask-thing is a thing that doesn't need say. Reggie: An ask is just as good as a fact. Show me one and I'll show you one. Show me two and I'll ask again. Duggie: Ask your ask and ask again. That's how it always is: one says and one asks and asks but the do is never done. Raymond: The do will be done if the right say has the right ask. The do cannot be done without the ask. Duggie: The say still remains; after the ask and before the do and after the do and after the ask. Reggie: I don't know to ask the do. Raymond, Raymond, do you think I should do the ask first? Raymond: No, Reggie, I think you should say; say first and then ask he do. Duggie: (Laughs) Reggie don't know how to do the do. Reggie doesn't even know the say. Raymond: Shut up, Duggie! Reggie, do the say. I'll help you. Reggie: Thank you, Raymond. Duggie: Don't listen to him, Reggie. Raymond doesn't know the say. Raymond: You don't know the say! Duggie: Of course I know the say! Raymond: Then say! Duggie: No. Raymond: Say! Duggie: No! Do-Do: (Senses the tension between the two and moves between them, watching them closely. See there is no speaking for a moment and smiles again. Obviously doesn't look at Reggie when he starts speaking.) Reggie: Duggie? Please say, Duggie. Duggie: Another day. Raymond: See! Duggie don't say. Duggie: Of course I do! Reggie: I'll do the say... Duggie: No! The say is mine! You have the ask. Raymond: The ask is now mine. Duggie: You do. |
